Write for Us

We are always looking for experienced writers who can write good original quality posts on BloggingTips.com. Please contact us if you would like us to consider you. Make sure you give us details of your own blog or a link to some articles you have written.

Writer Exposure

In return you will get full credit for the post, an author page with a bio and your website will also be linked at the top and bottom of every post you make. You can see an example of the bio page you will receive here. Please note we do not allow a standard author box at the end of guest posts. These bios tend to be quite spammy and we believe the two links to the authors blog and the link to the bio page is more than sufficient.

When you sign up to be an author here your account is set to subscriber. We will then upgrade the account to contributor, this basically means that your post will be published upon approval. I stress that posts will never be edited or changed in any way – if a post is not up to the quality we expect it may not be published however we will not edit the post at all. Any changes or modifications have to be done by the author.

Please note that we have very strict guidelines regarding quality, grammar and spelling.

Full Time Authors

We usually hire full time writing staff from guest posters who have proved that they can consistently write quality articles week in week out. However, we also hire experienced freelance writers. As previously mentioned, those interested should contact us with details about their experience.

Rules & Guidelines

Unfortunately, there are always rules.

The rules are in place to ensure that the quality of posts and integrity of the site remains high.

  • The post/article should not be reproduced anywhere else on the web including your own blog (neither party benefits from duplicate content)
  • Any images used in the post cannot mess up the design of the site. As a guideline, the max width of any picture you post should not exceed 550 pixels.
  • It is ok to link to your own blog if it is relevant to do so (eg. referring a coding example or whatnot). However, you should not write articles around topics to justify a link to your blog and you should not actively encourage visitors to visit your blog. Remember, you get a link to your blog at the top and bottom of your posts plus a link on your author page which is also linked to at the top and bottom of every post and the links are clearly marked so that your site gets exposure.
  • No affiliate codes or referral links are allowed in posts.

How do I get started?

Please register for an account at BloggingTips here and then contact us with some background information on yourself, your blog and your writing experience.

We will then upgrade your account so that you can submit a post for review. It is important that you email us afterwards telling us that you have submitted a post for review as we get a lot of submissions and frequently bloggers submit the post for review and expect it to go online.

Job Hunting/Job Scams – Money Matters from the Federal Trade Commission

This is an excellent site from the FTC about job scams.

Here is the exact text from their site:

Job-Hunting/Job Scams

If you’re looking for a job, you may see ads for firms that promise results. Many of these firms may be legitimate and helpful, but others may misrepresent their services, promote out-dated or fictitious job offerings, or charge high fees in advance for services that may not lead to a job.

To Do

Before you spend money responding to placement firms or completing placement contracts:

  • Reject any company that promises to get you a job.
  • Be skeptical of any employment-service firm that charges first, even if it guarantees refunds.
  • Get a copy of the firm’s contract and read it carefully before you pay any money. Understand the terms and conditions of the firm’s refund policy. Make sure you understand what services the firm will provide and what you’ll be responsible for doing. If oral promises are made, but don’t appear in the contract, think twice about doing business with the firm.
  • Take your time reading the contract. Don’t be caught up in a rush to pay for services. Stay away from high-pressure sales pitches that require you to pay now or risk losing out on an opportunity.
  • Be cautious about purchasing services or products from a firm that’s reluctant to answer your questions.
  • Be aware that some listing services and “consultants” write their ads to sound like they are jobs when they’re selling general information about getting a job.
  • Follow up with the offices of any company or organization mentioned in an ad or an interview by an employment service to find out if the company is really hiring.
  • Be wary of firms promoting “previously undisclosed” federal government jobs. All federal positions are announced to the public on www.usajobs.gov.
  • Check with your local consumer protection agency, state Attorney General’s Office, and the Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been filed about a company with which you intend to do business. You also may contact these organizations if you have a problem with an employment-service firm.

A few days ago, I received a request to review a new career site. Climber.com is a new version of sites like monster.com and linkedin.com. They perform a work personality analysis to help you choose the best company  for you. Their profiles are SEO/Search Engine Optimized, so Google searches can find you easily. Their Premier package also includes twittering your profile to recruiters and emailing your profile to matching recruiters.

I haven’t tried it, but I’m a sucker for anyone who wants to help get someone into the search engines.

Has anyone ever tried them out? What about other job profile sites? Any luck?
This is their copy they sent m:e ~with a little bit of editing from me ;)
